    Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage: Come to Gatlinburg to attend the Great Smoky Mountain Associations 66th Annual Wildflower Pilgrimage. Everyone from the most serious botanists to the weekend gardeners can experience unprecedented access to some of the nations leading botanical experts as well as Appalachian wildlife authorities with more than 150 programs including instructional walks and guided hiking tours. Programs take place in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along with educational classroom sessions and evening entertainment in the W.L. Mills Conference Center in downtown Gatlinburg.

Well they do and attendees usually dress in their best cowboy attire while they enjoy the festivities so dust off your boots and come join us the 15th annual Saddle Up in Pigeon Forge which will include cowboy music concerts, storytelling, a chuck wagon cook–off, a western dance and even Cowboy Church! You can also enjoy award-winning line ups of fiddlers, yodelers, singers, songwriters, poets and storytellers. Some events are free and others require purchasing tickets.

    New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show: Come to Gatlinburg to welcome the arrival of 2016 in unique style at the 28th Annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show around the intersection of Parkway and Historic Nature Trail at the base of the Space Needle late Thursday night, December 31. Fireworks will blast off the rooftop of the 400-foot tall Space Needle at the stroke of midnight to special music choreographed for the fireworks show produced by Pyro-Shows of LaFollette, Tennessee. The Space Needle has added rhythmic LED lights to the tower, making for a spectacular display!

    Winter Magic Kickoff & Chili Cookoff The 26th Annual Winter Magic Kickoff & Chili Cookoff takes place in downtown Gatlinburg along the Parkway from 5-8 pm. The Winter Magic Kickoff features the ceremonial lighting of more than 3 million lights that make Gatlinburg a winter wonderland. You will find lighted animated displays throughout Gatlinburg as well as the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community, some of which are as much as 40 feet tall.

    Of course who can forget all the great food! Vote for your favorite chili under the People’s Choice Award category. A panel of judges will cast their votes for other awards including: Best Presentation, Best Chili Apron, and Best Chili. There will also be a hot-chili eating contest during the event where contestants will consume chili with increasing levels of heat as the competition progresses. Chili’s served will vary from mild and delightful to wild and adventitious, to the ludicrous!

    Winterfest Trolley Tour of Lights: Winterfest Trolley Tour of Lights: Park your car Patriot Park and take a ride around town in a heated and enclosed trolley and see more than 5-million shining and twinkling holiday lights while your knowledgeable tour guide on the trolley who will share stories about Pigeon Forge’s history and tell you about the famous Winterfest holiday displays.

    The Winterfest Trolley Tour of Lights runs Monday-Friday only at 6:30 PM, 7:45 PM and 9:00 PM in November and December. In January the tours only run Mondays and Fridays. There must be at least 15 passengers for a tour to depart and reservations required for 10 or more people.

    Anything floatable can be entered starting at 10 am at the Christ in the Smokies bridge on River Road and will end at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. Awards will go to the top 3 in each categorof terh 2 catagories: Trash (not hand-made) and Treasure (hand-made). There will also be a "Judges Choice" award to the most creative "raft." Awards will be also be given to the oldest and the youngest participants. Registration begins at 10am and the race will start at noon.

    25th Annual Patriot Festival: Country music groups will perform in Pigeon Forge at the 24th Annual Patriot Festival held each year on Independence Day. Thousands of people of all ages are going to have fun all day starting at noon with games and activities geared towards kids. In the afternoon the free concerts beginand whne the music ends at around 9:30, it is time for the huge fireworks extravaganza to begin. All day long and into the night there will be food vendors with meals, drinks and snacks and a portion of the proceeds will go to local area charities. The Patriot Festival event parking is free. Trolley shuttle service will run from the Municipal Parking Lot on Teaster Lane right into Patriot Park.

    Free Gatlinburg Parkway Trolley: A great way to explore the parkway and not have to worry about parking is to take the Gatlinburg Trolley which are all are handicap accessible, some of which are free for the summer. Extra stops have been added along the special route along Parkway to bring the number of stops to 40.

The toughest part about Wilderness Wildlife Week in the Great Smoky Mountains is what you are going to miss as many programs are take place at the same time.

    There are also numerous programs for kids of all ages as well. Wilderness Wildlife Week takes place in the LeConte Center at 2986 Teaster Lane in Pigeon Forge, TN 37868.

    Dolly’s Homecoming Parade: The Annual Dolly Homecoming Parade happens each spring for more than 20 years in Pigeon Forge Tennessee with Dolly Parton being the grand marshal. The parade is filled with extravagant floats, marching bands, horses, show cars and trucks, local entertainers and fire engines, police cars and other public service vehicles. The parade route starts at traffic light #6 along the parkway in Pigeon Forge and continues North on the Parkway all the way to traffic light #3 with as many as 50,000 people lining the Dolly Homecoming Parade route. Dolly Parton is often seen at the Dollywood theme park before and or after the parade. Traffic will be extremely heavy in Pigeon Forge from 4 pm to 8 pm.
